GameplayBarony combines the direct controls of a first-person action game with the complex systems of a traditional roguelike RPG. Each expedition takes players through a newly generated dungeon filled with enemies, traps, locked passages, valuable equipment, and limited resources.

Survival depends on careful exploration and effective use of everything found along the way. Players can identify mysterious items, learn spells, improve skills, manage hunger, equip specialized gear, and adapt their tactics to unexpected situations. Permadeath means that failure can end an entire run, but every attempt provides new knowledge that can help during the next adventure.

Cooperative play allows party members to combine complementary classes and abilities. One player may fight on the front line while others use magic, ranged weapons, healing abilities, or stealth. The game supports online multiplayer, cross-platform play, and local split-screen for up to four players.

StoryThe town of Hamlet has fallen under the control of Baron Herx, a cruel ruler who became an undead lich. His curse devastated the settlement and trapped its people within a vast, dangerous dungeon.

A lone hero or a party of adventurers must descend into the Barony, overcome its monsters and traps, and confront Baron Herx in his lair. Reaching him requires persistence, resourcefulness, and the ability to survive a dungeon designed to punish careless decisions.

GraphicsBarony uses a distinctive combination of voxel environments and detailed pixel art. Its visual style is inspired by classic PC role-playing games from the early 1990s, including dungeon crawlers such as Ultima Underworld and Daggerfall.

Block-based characters and environments give the game a recognizable retro appearance, while atmospheric lighting, animated enemies, magical effects, and varied dungeon locations create a dark fantasy setting.
